Waterproof Motorcycle Suits Keep You Dry And Save Gas by Sandra Tiffany

Riding a motorcycle is often seen as an activity that occurs only during nice weather. While this has been mostly true for scooters and motorcycle enthusiasts in the United States, it does not hold true in other parts of the world.
Riders in Northern Europe, for instance, use their scooters year round. This is because higher gas prices dictate that people need to run cheaper vehicles or else use public transportation. Rapidly increasing gas prices in the United States are now changing motorcycle riding habits here, therefore resembling those practices existing in Northern Europe.
When a person wants to run his motorcycle year round or to use it off road, he also wants a waterproof motorcycle suit. Motorcycle suits do not normally have to cover the head, as the helmet will protect the wearer in the rain. Anti-fog goggles keep the rider’s vision clear during the times when visual acuity is important.
Although it is important for obvious reasons that such a suit be tight around certain areas of the body, it does not have to be skin tight. The neck area, the waist and the ankles bands should grip the body firmly. However, a wearer cannot test the effectiveness of a waterproof motorcycle suit before he puts it on and takes it for a ride.
While a suit needs to repel liquid water, ideally, it also has to allow the wearer to breathe, especially on hot days. A properly designed suit will let the wearer’s sweat exit to the outside air but also keep liquid water out. Most riders, however, will contend that wearing such suits in temperatures greater than 85 or 90 degrees constitutes physical torture and cannot be endured.
